In a survey through public education, it was determined that 4 in 5 menstruating teens have claimed to either missed classes themselves or know someone who had due to lack of feminine hygiene product access.
That’s why Asbury in Mission (AIM) is heading a collection this September to collect feminine hygiene products that will be distributed via the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank. The Food Bank provides these products currently, however the supply is extremely minimal and as a result few families are served.
Education is critical for these young women and statistics show that providing these products results in a measured increase in their school attendance.
Products will be collected throughout the month of September and can be placed in the Collection Center across from the church office (on the lower level). Supplies purchased should be individually wrapped, as boxes are divided up when they arrive at the food bank into smaller packages to be able to assist more people. To stay sterile and clean; all supplies need to be individually wrapped.
Prefer to give a financial donation? Please make checks payable to the Ecumenical Food Bank noting on the memo line “feminine hygiene products.”
