Growing up in rural Pennsylvania I attended a small Lutheran church with my family. After getting married in 1973, Linda and I became members of Asbury United Methodist Church. So many friendly people greeted us and made us feel so welcome to be there. We immediately got involved.
There were so many young families joining at that time. We formed many relationships, resulting in friendships that continue today. Our boys grew up attending a wonderful Sunday School program at Asbury. Linda and I joined a newly formed Sunday School group called The Young Adult Class (later changed to the “Pioneer Class” as we all got older.) Our hearts became firmly attached to the Asbury community of believers.
From the start of our Asbury membership, we immediately felt and experienced the excitement and commitment of a growing group of believers who demonstrated their understanding of the promise of eternal life and their belief in Jesus’ call to love our neighbor. Worshiping at Asbury is the first I clearly heard and came to understand the Gospel message. I will always be thankful for that.
Asbury, through its worship and other programs provides support and opportunities for ongoing sanctification for all to grow in their Christian faith.
