On Monday nights from September 29 – November 3 (a 6-week period), join us for a light meal and a small group of your choosing.
The light meal will be served in the Wesley Center between 6 PM and 6:30 PM. Food items may include pizza, sandwiches, tea, coffee, drinks and dessert. There is no charge, but a free-will offering will be collected to help offset the costs of the meal.
Then, choose from one of three group offerings, all taking place from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM [please check the individual group times below]:

The Asbury Immigration Study Small Group (“Welcoming the Stranger”) will be hosting Jessica Entwistle, Director of the Refugee Community Center of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in room 108, beginning at 6:30 PM. Jessica will be leading an informational presentation on the work of the Refugee Center as well as speaking on ways we can advocate for immigrants in our community.
Looking to make an impact in the community? Along with volunteer positions at the Refugee Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays, one of the upcoming needs is for volunteers to escort immigrants to court. They will be holding a training session around the end of August for those interested.

Immigration is one of the most complicated issues of our time. Voices on all sides argue strongly for action and change. Christians find themselves torn between the desire to uphold laws and the call to minister to the vulnerable.
In “Welcoming the Stranger,” World Relief immigration experts Matthew Soerens and Jenny Yang move beyond the rhetoric to offer a Christian response to immigration. They put a human face on the issue and tell stories of immigrants’ experiences in and out of the system. With careful historical understanding and thoughtful policy analysis, they debunk myths and misconceptions about immigration and show the limitations of the current immigration system. Ultimately they point toward immigration reform that is compassionate, sensible, and just as they offer concrete ways for you and your church to welcome and minister to your immigrant neighbors.
