Why Give?
God wants to be first in every aspect of our lives—including our finances. Giving isn’t about our money; it’s about our relationship with God. To show our trust in God we need to pick a percentage of our income we want to give to Him and give it first to the church. By giving to God first, we demonstrate that we trust that he will provide for us.
Where Does My Money Go?
When you give to Asbury Church, it goes toward creating opportunities for people of all ages to gather together, connect with others, and serve our communities. It’s in these different environments that people regularly experience life change.
There are 3 funds available to give towards:
General Fund: The General Fund includes all undesignated gifts from our weekly tithes and offerings and is used to support the ministry of the church, such as: Sunday Worship and Music, Children’s Ministries, Youth Ministries, Member Care and Hospitality, Adult Ministries, Pastoral Staff, Music Staff, Administrative Staff, Property Maintenance, Building Improvements, Church Mortgages, and our Annual Apportionment. Each year, the Business Manager and Finance Committee prepares a yearly budget that is approved by Church Council. This budget will guide the disbursement of funds from the General Fund.
AIM (Asbury in Mission): The church, in the exercise of its religious purposes and mission, has established second-mile giving through Asbury In Mission (AIM) to provide resources for the church, church members, or other worthy persons or organizations spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Special emphasis is placed on using this fund to engage our local community through special projects and service needs. It will also be used to support local, national/regional and global ministries and organizations.
Capital Improvements Fund: The church, in the exercise of its religious purposes, has established a Capital Improvements Fund (CIF) to provide for the future needs of the church for major repairs, major remodeling, expansion, or construction or purchase of facilities for the church. The church welcomes contributions to the fund. The administration of the fund, including all disbursements, is subject to the control of the Business Manager and the Board of Trustees.
The church respects the donor’s decision to give as led by the Lord. In keeping with Asbury’s current Giving Policy, the church will make every reasonable effort to honor designated gifts; however, according to IRS regulations, in order for a gift to be considered a tax-deductible gift, the church must maintain full control over how the gift is used.
