“Adults and Seniors Socialization Health Tips”
by Doris Farrar, RN
“Believe it or not” consistent interactions and socialization is needed for all ages – especially for the senior population. Research highlights the importance of promoting active involvement with others in friendships and various group sessions to keep mentally, physically, and emotionally connected and holistically healthy in mind, body, and soul.
An active engagement in socializing and belonging to groups as a habit is on the same level as good nutrition, exercise, and sufficient sleep. This trait enables one to deal with daily stress, produces cardiac health, and enables the immune system to help prevent poor health and diseases. This further enables longer lifespans and energy to experience life with a quality for self and others. This energy level helps us achieve the added strength to exercise consistently. Remember the old popular song: “people, people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world”
Evaluate your personal involvement and others you are involved with in your life to promote this valuable trait. Encourage, promote, and provide ways to expose yourself and others to increase the quality of life. Sharing yourself with others is written in many of the biblical scriptures.
In summary, consistent interaction is needed for all ages, especially the senior population that may be isolated in various stages of daily life. Socialization keeps us all mentally, physically, and emotionally stable and healthy. Smile, reach out, and take time to smell the roses.

1 Corinthians 12:12-26
Each believer has God-given abilities that can strengthen the whole body. Your special ability may seem small or large, but it is yours to use in God’s service. Ask God to use your gifts to contribute to the strength and health of others.
