“Balance”
by Mike SIlvonek
Good balance is critically important for senior citizens because it supports safety, independence, and confidence in daily life. As balance declines with age, the risk of falls and serious injury increases. Simple exercises can help maintain stability and strength. Standing on one foot while holding a chair improves single-leg balance. Heel-to-toe walking, like walking on a line, enhances coordination and control. Sit-to-stand exercises from a chair strengthen the legs and improve stability during movement. Practicing these exercises regularly helps seniors move more safely, stay active, and maintain independence, contributing to better overall health and quality of life.
The mission of the Health Ministry Team is to integrate health and faith through encouragement of individuals to live healthier lives in mind, body and spirit. Visit the Health Ministry Team page to learn more about the team and their impact.
